LGBTIQ Advocacy Award

The LGBTQ Center is also accepting nominations for the LGBTIQ Advocacy Award, which recognizes contributions to or advocacy on behalf of the LGBTIQ communities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Individuals who have contributed in one or more of the following ways are eligible for consideration:

  • Elevated the status of LGBTIQ-identified persons and/or allies;
  • Helped to improve campus or community policies affecting LGBTIQ-identified persons;
  • Enhanced visibility and awareness of LGBTIQ issues.

One graduating undergraduate and one graduate/professional student will be selected to receive the award. The awardee will be honored at Lavender Graduation.
To nominate an individual or yourself for the LGBTIQ Advocacy Award, please complete the nomination form and email it to lgbtq@unc.edu by 5pm on Monday, April 21st. The Sexuality Studies Program and the LGBTQ Center are collaborating to offer monthly Lunch & Learn seminars at which Sexuality Studies faculty and others will present on current research on LGBTIQ topics and/or work done from queer theoretical perspectives. Bring your lunch, your curiosity, and join us for these engaging discussions.

The LGBTQ Center cordially invites you to participate in the planning of this year’s Lavender Graduation ceremony. Lavender Graduation is a commencement ceremony honoring graduating Sexuality Studies minors, LGBTIQ-identified students, and Allies. The ceremony provides a more personal setting in which to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of these students during their tenure at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Q Group

Mondays 6 - 7:30 pm

Q Group is a confidential discussion group that meets each Monday evening from 6-7:30pm to discuss all things quintessentially queer, questioning, and quixotic. If you are interested in participating in Q Group or want more info, you can come to Drop-In Support Hours on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3-5pm. Drop In Support Hours

Drop-in Support Hours are weekly opportunities to have brief, one-to-one, confidential conversations at the LGBTQ Center with Counselors from Campus Health Services. Drop-In Support Hours are available Thursdays from 3-5pm in the LGBTQ Center, SASB North, Suite 3226.
